Set the Trumpet to Thy Mouth

Circumstances have caused me to recall a book written in the eighties entitled "Set the Trumpet to Thy Mouth", author David Wilkerson. I had gotten saved in 1982 and was still afloat in "first-love" when this commentary reached Christian circles. I thought it alarmingly harsh. I know differently now.

There were chapters hammering down on the fallacy of the prosperity message, the sad state of embattled marriage and fidelity, the encroachment of entertainments into Church culture, the proliferation of fun programs with no redeeming purpose, the seductions of the the occult, the prayerlessness of our gatherings, the split motives of the shepherds, the formulaic strategies for church growth with no regard for the move of the Spirit.

Wilkerson's foundation  scripture came from Hosea 8: 1-4.

It would be profitable here for readers to give attention to a parallel and more current message from Wilkerson entitled  "A Call to Anguish". Brace yourselves.

  1. Powerful message. May all of our hearts be broken to the point of anguish so that we might spread the Truth of our Lord. Love the heart, brother.
